Air Waves Portrush takes place on the eastern side of the resort allowing use of the improved display line and the spectacular backdrop of the Giant’s Causeway and Dunluce Castle. The beautiful award-winning beach will again be available for spectators. This map shows the layout of the event: Spectating is possible all along the eastern peninsula (1.5km) but the best viewing of the air displays is at Village North (Lansdowne Green). Exhibition space is divided between two main areas – Village North (Lansdowne Green) and Village South (East Strand car park).  See map for details.

As usual, there is free admission and free parking including additional park and ride facilities for 2017. Spectator viewing stretches from the northern tip of the peninsula at Lansdowne and along the coastal promenade, past the Arcadia, to East Strand. Viewing is permitted from the beach (from The Arcadia to ‘The Burn’) so bring your picnic blankets. The beach from ‘The Burn’ to Curran Point (and all the sand dunes) is a prohibited area because of the display line. Any infringement will result in the cancellation of the air displays. Please note there is no access to the sea from the Arcadia to Curran Point. Whiterocks Beach will operate as usual although pedestrian between Whiterocks Beach to Portrush town is not possible.

Exhibition Areas

The two large exhibition spaces, Village North (Lansdowne) and Village South (East Strand), book-end the coastal promenade and offer excellent viewing of the air displays. Each area has different attractions and a visit to both is essential.
