Air Waves Portrush is ready for take off!! Now firmly established as the biggest free airshow and festival on the island of Ireland, Air Waves Portrush will deliver a packed programme of aerial entertainment, as well as a host of land-activities and events. Both days will be hosted across two main areas on the Portrush Strand- Village North & South

Village North

At Lansdowne Green & Antrim Gardens (Village North) there are the many delights of the Naturally North Coast & Glens Artisan Market along with Model Aircraft displays, Military Vehicles and re-enactments.  There is a food village and soft play section at one end of the green and at the other the Sea Cadets provide a fast and exciting recruitment experience for young people wishing to try out the high ropes climbing wall

Meet the Cadets

Here are some Cadets from 2017 who were sharing their knowledge at Air Waves on what its like to be a cadet. Come along again this year to get more information on how you could become a cadet or simply to hear some of their many interesting stories! You will also be able to get this years programme from the Cadets. 

Artisan Market

This years Naturally North Coast & Glens Artisan Market is located in Antrim Gardens. A uniquely artisan market, it offers colourful arts & crafts and delicious local produce made by locals who are passionate about what they do! Here you can browse the producer’s wares, take the time to talk and learn about age-old craft techniques, cooking expertise, and well-tuned skills. Discover hidden talents, discover new products and enjoy all this community market has to offer.

Fun Zone

From tots to teens…and the big kids themselves! Everyone is welcome to join in on all the fun and action in either of our fun zones as they are located in both North and South Village. 

Village South

The main exhibition site is contained within East Strand Car Park (Village South) with various aviation displays from the RAF and Ulster Aviation Society, with the size of the structures and attractions these are positioned prominently at the front of the site. There are amazing have a go activities provided by the Army and Navy and the largest STEM experience ever to attend the show. All of these assets are positioned on the tarmac car park along with the Hospitality marquee.

STEM Village

Science? Technology? Engineering? or Maths? At the STEM village you will find many interactive, fun and engaging STEM employers and educators waiting to help you discover what interests you. Whether you are still studying, picking subjects or considering a career change, come and open your eyes to a whole new world of exciting STEM orientated careers.

Ulster Aviation Society

Inside the large marquee you’ll discover exhibits which open a window into Northern Ireland’s amazing aviation heritage, with stories of the people who made it all happen! Specific exhibits include the Society’s popular Spitfire replica and visitors can climb aboard the Alouette Helicopter to get some personal experience in the ‘front office’ of this famous aircraft. 

Armed Forces Village

Come along to meet members of the armed forces from the Navy, Army and Air Force where you can discover who they are, the skills they need and the equipment involved in the operations they have undertaken! This exhibition is a great opportunity to wonder around and learn a thing or two about a day in the life of the armed forces.
